What each tier means
| Tier | What we checked |
|---|---|
| Basic | The seller’s contact details were provided and confirmed. |
| Verified (ID Verified) | Government-issued ID and ownership documents were reviewed by the AssetNest team. |
| Elite | ID and ownership documents were reviewed and a background check was passed. |
What a badge does not mean
A badge is not a guarantee of title, quality, condition, value, legality or future conduct. We check the documents we are shown and cannot detect every forgery or hidden claim. Verification is a point in time and can go out of date. It is not legal advice or a valuation. Always do your own checks as set out in the Buyer Terms & Safety Guidelines.
How checks work
- You apply for a tier and send the documents we ask for, with clear copies only.
- Our verification team reviews them, and may ask questions or request more.
- Where useful, an authorised inspector or field agent may visit the asset or meet the seller.
- If checks are passed, we add the badge. If not, we explain why where we can.
Accepted ID
We accept valid government photo ID, such as a Ghana Card, passport or driver’s licence, or another document we tell you about at the time. The name on the ID should match the name on the ownership documents.
Background checks (Elite)
Elite checks need your clear consent. We confirm identity and look at information that the law lets us check. We use the result only to decide the tier, to meet legal duties and to keep the platform safe. The result is not published or shared with other users. You may withdraw consent, but we may then remove the badge. See our Privacy Policy.
How we handle your documents
Documents are stored with restricted access, used only for verification, never shown on listings, and kept for the periods in our Data Retention & Deletion page.
Inspectors and field agents
- They are independent contractors with an AssetNest authorisation and a code of conduct. Ask to see their authorisation.
- They may not take cash or personal payments for badges. Fees are paid only through the channels on our Fees page.
- They are not your lawyer, surveyor or valuer.
- Report misconduct to us using the report form.
Changing or removing a badge
We may downgrade or remove a badge if documents expire, information turns out to be false, there is a credible report, the asset or ownership changes, or the seller breaks our rules. A badge may also need to be renewed.
If you disagree
If you think a decision was wrong, contact us within 14 days on WhatsApp +233 50 588 3766 with any extra information, and a different member of the team will look at it again.
