Our approach

Fake listings and payment scams harm everyone on the platform. We try to prevent them through review before listings go live, verification tiers, field checks, limiting what contact information and documents are shown, and acting on reports.

How to report

Use the report form, or message +233 50 588 3766 on WhatsApp. Include the listing ID if you have it, what happened, links, screenshots, payment details and the names or numbers used. A report can be made without giving your name, but giving a way to reach you helps us follow up.

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge your report within 2 business days.
  2. We may hide the listing or restrict the account while we investigate.
  3. We may ask the seller or reporter for documents or explanations.
  4. If it breaks our rules, we remove the listing, remove any badge, restrict or ban the user and tell affected users where appropriate.
  5. Where we think a crime has been committed, we may report it to law enforcement and give them the information they lawfully ask for.
  6. We tell you the outcome where we are able to do so.

Protecting the person who reports

We keep a reporter’s identity confidential from the person reported, unless the law requires otherwise or the reporter agrees. We may need to tell the person reported about the content of a complaint so they can respond.

False or abusive reports

Do not use the report process to harass or to harm a competitor. We may act against people who knowingly make false reports.

If you have lost money

Report it to the Ghana Police Service as soon as you can and keep all records. Tell us too, so we can protect others. AssetNest does not hold funds between users and cannot recover or refund money you paid to another person, but we will cooperate with lawful requests from the police and courts.

Common scams

  • A price far below market, with pressure to pay a deposit at once.
  • A seller abroad who cannot meet and asks for money to be sent first.
  • Someone claiming to be an AssetNest officer who asks for a fee to a personal number.
  • Fake documents or the same asset sold to several buyers.
  • A request to move to another app and pay outside agreed methods.
