We process personal data in line with the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and, where it applies to you, other data protection laws described in section 10.

Sensitive information: ID documents and background checks
Government ID, ownership documents and background check results are sensitive. We ask for them only for Verified and Elite tiers, and only with your clear consent at the time. They are kept in restricted storage, are available only to authorised AssetNest verification staff, and are never published on listings. The public sees only the resulting badge. If a background check reveals information about criminal behaviour, we use it only to decide the tier and to meet legal duties, and we do not share the details with other users. You can withdraw consent at any time, but we may then remove the badge.
Who we share data with
- Other users. A listing, including the contact number you provide for buyers, may be shown publicly or used to connect interested buyers to you. Enquiry details may be shared with sellers, inspectors or field agents who may be able to help you.
- Service providers (processors). Google (Apps Script, Sheets and Fonts), Cloudinary (images and video), Cloudflare (website hosting and security), WhatsApp / Meta (messaging) and our exchange-rate data provider. They process data on our behalf under their own terms.
- Inspectors and field agents who carry out checks for us under written confidentiality and data-handling obligations.
- Professional advisers, auditors, and regulators or law enforcement where the law requires or allows disclosure, for example to prevent or investigate crime.
- A buyer of our business, if we are reorganised or sold, who must keep to this Policy.
Sending data outside Ghana
Our service providers store and process data on servers in other countries, including the United States and Europe. International buyers and sellers also view listings from abroad. We use providers that apply security safeguards and contractual protections, and we limit what we send. By using the Service you understand that your data may be handled outside Ghana.
Keeping data safe
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to our database, review before listings go live, separate credentials for administrators and inspectors, and limits on what is made public. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify the Data Protection Commission and you as the law requires, without undue delay.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires. Typical periods are in our Data Retention & Deletion page.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal data about you and get a copy;
- ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete data we no longer need to keep;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, processing, including direct marketing;
- withdraw consent you gave, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.
To use these rights, fill in our data request form, or message us on WhatsApp +233 50 588 3766. We may need to confirm your identity first, to protect you from someone else asking on your behalf. We aim to reply within 30 days, or sooner where the law requires.
Deleting a listing request does not remove copies other people have already saved or shared outside our control.
If you are in the EEA or the United Kingdom
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to our handling of your data, you also have rights to data portability and to restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our legal bases are those in section 3 (consent, contract, legal obligation and legitimate interests). For transfers outside your country we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses, where applicable.
Children
The Service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Messages and marketing
We will contact you about your listing or enquiry as part of the service. We send promotional messages, for example by WhatsApp, only if you have agreed, and every message will give you a way to stop.
Other websites
Listings may link to websites and videos run by others. This Policy does not cover them. Please read their privacy policies.
Changes
We will update this Policy when our practices change and show the new date at the top. For material changes we will also put a notice on the Service.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana (dataprotection.org.gh).
